Stratford firefighters contained a fire to the contents of a linen service on Woodend Road Friday night and prevented any damage to the structure, according to Stratford Fire Marshal Brian Lampart.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Jan. 16 Stratford Fire Department responded to an activated alarm at General Linen Service, 895 Woodend Road. Upon arrival firefighters found a significant smoke condition pushing through building openings. Under the command of Assistant Chief John Conway they gained entry into the unoccupied business and found an active fire that consumed several large bins full of recently cleaned linens.

No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation by the Stratford fire marshal’s office.

General Linen Service is the site of several fires in past years including one that destroyed the building in early 2000, according to Lampart.
