Police arrested two local residents for burglarizing a home on Kenyon Street in Stratford today, Jan. 20, catching them just after they fled the scene of the crime.
Police say they came upon a burglary in progress at the Kenyon Street home and set up surveillance. When the suspects were outside of the burglary location a resident returned home, and they fled the scene in a van, according to police.
Officers say they tried to stop the vehicle, but engaged in a short pursuit until it came to stop on Broadmere Road. One of the suspects, Betsy Rodriguez, 40, of Stratford was caught with the van. The second suspect and driver, Nelson Gonzalez, 42, of Stratford, fled on foot but was taken into custody a short distance later.
Items linking the pair to the burglary were recovered at the scene of the stop.
Gonzalez was charged with reckless driving, engaging officers in pursuit, burglary, criminal trespass, larceny, and interfering with an officer. He was held on a $50,000 dollar bond.
Rodriguez was charged with burglary, larceny and conspiracy to commit burglary and larceny. She was held on a $25,000 dollar bond.
