Willie F. Rogers
Stratford Police arrested Willie F. Rogers, age 26, of Bridgeport, with a handgun on Feb. 9 outside the Stratford Hotel and Conference Center, located at 225 Lordship Blvd.
Rogers was arrested after officers at the hotel were alerted by patrons that Rogers was in the hotel lobby area with a gun. He was seen exiting the hotel as officers approached the rear door. Upon seeing the officers, Rogers dropped the handgun and started to walk away. He was apprehended and a handgun was recovered where Rogers dropped it.
Rogers said that he was at the hotel with the weapon because he had been jumped by several unknown males earlier in the evening. Rogers said he returned to “handle” the situation by himself.
Rogers was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle, breach of peace and violation of a protective order from an earlier incident in the City of Bridgeport.
Rogers was held on bond.
