Police reports: Week of Aug. 17

Sexual assault

Police arrested Aaron Smith, 20, of Stratford on Aug. 8 on four counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree, which involves unwanted sexual touching, according to police. The arrest stems from an investigation started in February when a 15-year-old female complained about being molested when she was younger.

 

Threatening with a knife

In a domestic dispute on Aug. 5, Maxine Sterling, 51, of Stratford wanted her boyfriend’s daughter, out of the house, according to a police report. The boyfriend’s daughter, Tamesha Stacy-Ann Smith, 28, of Stratford, argued, used expletives, picked up a knife and threatened to use it, police say. Because of the two-way argument Sterling and Smith were both charged with disorderly conduct. Smith was also charged with threatening.

 

Pit bull, no papers

After receiving a complaint about a pit bull dog that was roaming, Police Animal Control officer went to the suspected home of the dog on St. Michael’s Avenue on Aug. 8 and found that the dog was temporarily residing there. All dogs are required to have papers showing vaccination and licensing, and this dog did not. Maryann Bratz, 46, was cited for failure to vaccinate for rabies and failure to license a dog.

 

Refused entry

Police received a report of a male trying to get into his mother’s Broadbridge Avenue home on Aug. 7, and police say he was refused entry by the mother’s boyfriend. After allegedly breaking a window of the house, the male fled the scene when police arrived. According to the police report, they found the male, Thomas Brophy, 18, of Stratford behind a nearby Walgreens. They charged him with criminal mischief and breach of peace with threatening.

 

Upset ex-husband

Police say that when John Jacques went to his ex-wife’s house on July 8, he was not let in. Jacques then proceeded to smash a window on a car that he believed was owned by his ex-wife’s boyfriend, according to a police report. Jacques, 32, of Stratford was arrested on a warrant on Aug. 4 for criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

 

Alcohol and thrown object

At about 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 police received a report that an object thrown from a car hit another car in the windshield in the area of Huntington Road and Tavern Rock Road. As police approached the suspect vehicle an officer saw a backpack being thrown out of the car. It was later found to contain beer. Police arrested five persons on charges of possession of alcohol by a minor and criminal mischief. Three of the arrested are juveniles whose names were not released. The two adults arrested are Brianna Feehan, 18, of Stratford and John R. Minopoli, 18, of Stratford.
