Tried to steal from an ATM
Matthew Olsen, 24, of Stratford was arrested Aug. 15 on a warrant related to June 28 crimes at TD BankNorth on Stratford Avenue. Police say surveillance photos showed the suspect, and Shelton Police Department helped to identify him as Olsen. For allegedly damaging an ATM and attempting to pry it open Olsen was charged with criminal mischief, larceny and burglary.
Threatened to shoot
Darren Zarembski, 46, of Stratford was arrested at Stratford News on Honeyspot Road on Aug. 14 for disorderly conduct and threatening after police received a call saying an irate customer threatened to shoot a weapon.
Grabbing a child
Jacob Backer, 27, of Stratford was arrested on Aug. 13 for impairing morals of a child, breach of peace, threatening, assault, and unlawful restraint. Police reports say that Backer’s girlfriend said he assaulted her and attempted to grab a child away from her.
Motel burglar
A police officer on regular patrol in the area of Honeyspot Motel was flagged down by hotel security personnel and arrested Ronnie Perez who allegedly forced entry into the first floor of the motel and stole a table saw. Perez was found with a crack pipe and at first gave police a wrong name. Charges included burglary, larceny, interfering with an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation
