The Stratford community is invited to support Stratford Police Explorers by going to Mary and Beth’s Metro Diner on Main Street in Stratford on Monday, Sept. 9, at starting at 5 p.m. for a $10 buffet style meal, including dessert.

Young men and women of the local Explorer post will be on hand serving and clearing the tables for this Tip an Explorer fund raising event.

Customers may bring their own beer or wine, and Monday night football will be shown. All proceeds including admission, tips and raffle money will be donated to the Stratford Police Explorers to help cover costs of the young men and women Explorers attending the Connecticut Cadet Police Academy at the University of Hartford.

The cost for each Academy attendee is $420. Without support many explorers would not be able to attend.

Raffles during the Tip an Explorer event at Mary and Beth’s will offer prizes such as gift cards to area restaurants and sporting event prize packs, and more.

For further information contact Officer Kevin Albohn at Stratford Police Department, 203-385-4158, or see Mary and Beth at the Metro Diner. Advance tickets are available at the Metro Diner or at the Police Department.

The Stratford Police Explorer Post 55 is a non-profit career education program for young men and women, 14 to 20 years old, that fosters relationships between youth and organizations in the community, along with direct contact with members of the Stratford Police Department. The result is a program of activities that helps youths pursue an interest in law enforcement, grow and develop.
