Stratford Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour will be among the police chiefs from around Greater Bridgeport who will put their driving prowess to the test Sunday in the Annual Chief’s Challenge Autocross.
They will be driving cruisers from their respective departments.
Fairfield Chief Gary MacNamara is looking to retain his title. Three-time champ Bridgeport Chief Joseph Gaudett is looking to bring the title back to the Park City. Stratford Chief Patrick Ridenhour, Trumbull Police Chief Thomas Kiely and Norwalk Chief Thomas Kulhawik all will vie to be the top driver of the top cops.
WHEN: Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at 9 a.m. The first car will be off at 10 a.m.
WHERE: Parking lot of the Stratford Army Engine Plant, 559 South Main Street, Stratford
WHAT: An autocross is a timed, precision driving skills event where, using traffic cones, a road course is laid out in a parking lot. The object of the event is to get through the course as quickly as possible without disturbing a cone. A 2 second penalty is assessed for each cone knocked over.
The event is sponsored by the Fairfield County Sports Car Club, the oldest sports car club in Connecticut, and raises money for the Special Olympics Connecticut.
